How to Maintain AC Generator?
Farrand Generator promises customers that our generator warranty is 2,000 hours or 2 years.
So how do customers maintain the generators they purchase from Farrand?
- Clean the generator. Clean the dust and sludge on the outside of the generator frame promptly. If the environment is dusty, it is best to clean it once a day.
- Check and clean the motor terminals. Check whether the wiring screws of the junction box are loose or burned.
- Check the screws of each fixed part, including anchor screws, end cover screws, bearing cover screws, etc. Tighten loose nuts.
- Check the transmission device, check whether the pulley or coupling is loose or damaged, whether the installation is firm; whether the belt and its connecting buckle are intact.
- The starting equipment of the generator should also promptly clean the external dust and dirt, wipe the contacts, check whether there are burn marks on each wiring part, and whether the grounding wire is in good condition.
- Inspection and maintenance of bearings. Bearings should be cleaned and grease or oil replaced after being used for a period of time. The cleaning and oil changing time should be determined by the working conditions of the motor, the working environment, the degree of cleanliness, and the type of lubricant. Half of them should be cleaned and re-greased every 3-6 months of operation. When the oil temperature is high, or the motor has poor environmental conditions and a lot of dust, it is necessary to clean and change the oil frequently.
- Inspection of insulation condition. The insulating ability of insulation materials varies with the degree of dryness, so it is very important to check the dryness of the generator windings. Factors such as a humid working environment of the generator and the presence of corrosive gases in the workplace will destroy the electrical insulation. The most common is a winding ground fault, that is, the insulation is damaged, causing the live parts to collide with metal parts that should not be live, such as the casing. This kind of failure will not only affect the normal operation of the generator, but also endanger personal safety. Therefore, when the generator is in use, the insulation resistance should be checked frequently, and the grounding of the generator casing should also be checked to see if it is reliable.
- In addition to regular maintenance of the generator according to the above contents, it must be overhauled after one year of operation. The purpose of overhaul is to conduct a thorough and comprehensive inspection and maintenance of the generator, supplement the missing and worn components of the motor, completely eliminate dust and dirt inside and outside the generator, check the insulation condition, clean the bearings and check their wear. Discover problems and deal with them promptly.
